As more and more of us becomes aware of our place on this earth and the need for conservation however small it might seem is indeed impacting the way we decorate and fix our houses. Previousd trends places high prices on furniture made form old-growth trees which are now fast becoming extinct due to demand. Furniture makers still use expensive and exclusive wood that comes form forests (diseased or storm damaged ones) but they are turning to a majority of products that are made from sustainable timber resources. This places less pressure on our diminishing forests, many of which have already disappeared. Cultivated timber can provide a solution afterall, former old-growth forests cannot regaint heir natural beauty on their own for tit takes milions of years and a couple of hundred or so to make nice and good trees into old-growth forest. Being responsible is the key and the only way to maintain the status of wood as a material of choice when it comes to furniture is to manage and seek alternative sources to help mother earth recover from the neglect and pollution we have taxed on her in our short history.
